JAVA Application Developer - Posted 04/21/2008

Job Description:

Work independently and without supervision on a large rewrite of an existing java application(s). Research, develop, test, and deploy java software technology following defined coding standards and using the latest java technologies.  Communicate the current status of projects and tasks with management and project stakeholders on a regular basis.

Programmers are required to use existing database and interface abstraction layers, adhere to the company’s coding & commenting standards, as well as follow an MVC (Model – View – Controller) design pattern.

Candidates should be proficient in object oriented programming, be able to work in a team environment, and feel comfortable with deadlines and milestones.  Applicants should also have a solid understanding of software development processes, design patterns, and multi-layered architectures. Web-based Java, JSP, or J2EE is a requirement for this position.

Required Skills:

  • 3+ years experience with java application development
  • Experience in J2EE technologies (JSPs, Servlets, JSFs etc.)
  • Working knowledge of XML
  • Strong programming skills and self-motivated
  • Strong understanding of database design fundamentals and RDBMS principles
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic Unix/Linux command shell knowledge and using ANT on Linux
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and learn quickly

Desired Skills:

  • BS/CS (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience with development using application frameworks and data persistence layers (Struts, Hibernate, etc.)
  • Experience with AJAX
  • Experience with Linux enterprise server administration and database administration is also a plus.
  • Automated testing and QA solutions
